Trip Journal: Passion 2012 Pastor Zach
Tomorrow morning a group of college students from all across the central Illinois area will be leaving to go to Atlanta, Georgia for the Passion conference. We will be joining over 35,000 other college students as we look to make the name of Jesus famous!
Passion has been going since 1997 and it was founded by Louie Giglio. Giglio had a heart for college students and he truly believed that the college generation could change the world! He started this conference so that students can learn things straight out of the Bible and to also apply the teachings that we learn to our lives.
Music is a huge focus at Passion events. Christian musicians from all across the world (Matt Redman and Hillsong United) come together to lead the worship music. Giglio even says it himself that the music is the “point of our arrow” when referring to what leads the conference year in and year out.
Do Something Now is a part of Passion Conferences, a global movement of students seeking to make Jesus famous in this generation. DSN has several causes that are financially supported by students who go to Passion. The causes this year are: Restoring freed child slaves, Care for freed child slaves, Rescue freed child slaves, Prevent human trafficking, Intercept trafficking victims, Providing a new beginning for exploitation survivors, and for the Atlanta project. Passion’s goal is for them to raise $1,000,000 by the end of the 4 days (Yes you read that correctly!). Together we are a force for good!
Top notch preachers will be on hand to speak to us each session. Louie Giglio, Francis Chan, John Piper, Beth Moore, and Christine Caine will be on hand to challenge us to live our lives for something much bigger than our own well being.
Each night of our trip I will be posting a trip journal entry on my blog to keep everyone updated on what is going on! I will also paste the blog entry here on the church website each night. Please feel free to subscribe to my blog so you can get my blogs directly to your email as soon as I post them. Also feel free to comment on each blog letting our group know you are praying for them. My blog can be found at www.zkmoreno.com
Each session is going to be streaming live from the Georgia Dome! You can check out the sessions live by going to www.268generation.com/passion2012
